Humility to ask for help

Dear brother I want to ask you, how often do you ask for help when you need it? I have come to realize that when we ask for help is when we sharpen each other, and the Lord uses others to speak into our lives.

Galatians 6:2

Help carry one another's burdens, and in this way, you will obey the law of Christ.

Luke 5:17-20

One day when Jesus was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of the Law were sitting there who had come from every town in Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. The power of the Lord was present for Jesus to heal the sick. Some men came carrying a paralysed man on a bed, and they tried to carry him into the house and put him in front of Jesus. Because of the crowd, however, they could find no way to take him in. So they carried him up on the roof, made an opening in the tiles, and let him down on his bed into the middle of the group in front of Jesus. When Jesus saw how much faith they had, he said to the man, “Your sins are forgiven, my friend.”

Have you sometimes needed a hand but were too proud to ask? In Luke 5 Jesus heals a paralysed man who was lowered to him through the ceiling. The commitment of the four men carrying the stretcher is amazing. They cannot get through the crowd, so the lift the stretcher with a grown man up onto the roof of the house, can you imagine doing this?

Sometimes you are the one in the stretcher with others believing for you and helping you. Sometimes other people are in the stretcher and you are putting in effort to believe and help them.  The brotherhood visual is amazing and we are praying that ii is activated in our groups soon. It is important that we think of our brothers and ourselves in this way of carrying the stretcher or being in it.

Let us carry one another’ s burdens. I used to be too proud to accept help. I used to have a Batman / Lone ranger syndrome going on in my head about being triumphant all by myself. Figuring out my marriage and not consulting with others. I cannot tell you the bogus decisions I made from financial to spiritual ones.

I cannot tell you enough how wrong such a syndrome or attitude is. We are meant for community and relationships it must be a time when we accept help and we are not too proud.

When I asked for other people’s help in marriage, things were better. When I began to hide things and tried to solve things by myself, is when they failed. When I stopped listening to the saints is when I failed. Are you seeing that pattern here?

The humility to ask for help and to ask for others to come alongside you is very crucial. Jesus fell three times and the Romans forced another man to carry his cross. Jesus had gone as far as a human could go. He could have got angels to carry the cross. He could have obtained supernatural Samson strength to carry the cross. But he accepted help. So, brother ask for help when you need it. Give help when asked of you.

Matthew 27:32

As they were going out, they found a Cyrenian man named Simon. They forced this man to carry His cross.
